Shedquarters had a fantastic weekend at the Stoke Row Steam Rally.
We talked to visitors about Shedquarters, Men’s Sheds, membership, volunteering and our local community work.
Over the two days we spoke with hundreds of people. It was lovely to see so much interest in what Shedquarters does.
Visitors could see a range of items made by members. These included phone stands, pentomino puzzles, ironmongery and other handmade pieces.
The pentomino puzzles were especially popular. They encouraged people to stop, have a go and start conversations about the Shed.
Many visitors were interested in how the items were made. Others wanted to know more about joining, volunteering, donating materials or supporting the Shed in other ways.
We were also pleased to be joined on Sunday by members of BenShed. They helped us promote the wider local Men’s Shed movement and point people towards whichever Shed may be most local to them.
It was good to meet people from Stoke Row, Sonning Common and the surrounding villages. Events like this help us explain what a Men’s Shed is and why places like Shedquarters matter to the local community.

We came away with lots of useful conversations and a few new contacts to follow up. Most importantly, it was a good chance to show that Shedquarters is about more than tools and making things. It is also about people, friendship, shared skills and being part of the local community.
Shedquarters will also be at Sonning Common Village Day on Sunday 28th June. Please do come and say hello, everyone is welcome.
